WildWang Colorado Springs 2011

Here is a video from our team camp in Colorado Springs.. it has great video of both Incline and Pike's Peak!

There is also some video of the start and finish of our 20 km time trial along with the whole team!

The A-team turns into the D-team

So we were in Kananskis for a National Team mini-camp and the team was split up into 4 groups to make videos about teamwork.... here is what the Developement team men came up with. To make it interesting, it was made a competition with prizes for the best video. After watching it, take a guess who won?

Pike's Peak, Colorado Springs, CO

I forgot to put up a post of the hike that we did up Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs. It was such a great hike, especially since I climbed my first 14,000+ ft mountain. Apparently in North America there are 58 peaks over 14,000 ft and colorado has 53 or so of them. There it is... the hike looks daunting from the city and we still couldn't believe that we climbed it when we looked back up in later days.

Apparently the hike takes 8 hours at a brisk pace to get to the top.......We climbed it in 4 hours and 5 mins....

Half way up the climb  at 10,200 ft (elevation and pretty much time) there was a little camp called Barr Camp where we stopped for lunch and some unexpected  treats.

Fresh brewed coffee and M&Ms... hit the spot.

After the lunch break we really got into a nice brisk pace and kept coming across these trail signs, including the one for the bottomless pit..

Once we cleared the treeline the views were incredible. Nothing like I've experienced before. For the last hour or so we were in the rocks and it looked like the hike would never end. There was a sign indicated that there were "16 golden stairs".... apperently meaning 16 more switchbacks until the top.... not so golden after all.

Finally getting to the top was great and quite rewarding. Most of us had pounding headaches from exersion at altitude, but it was worth it. What a great climb.
